I am very sad today.

Today was the last day of school.

However, no one cried.
I felt like so.

'Cause the school is going to seperate me and ~~Sirong~~ all the people I know for a month.
Zhenan's leaving also.

The Kangxi Emperor : Treasures from the Forbidden City

1. This is to inform you that your son/ward has expressed interest in participating in the excursion to the Asian Civilisation Museum on 26 May 2009, Tuesday, from 1215 to 1445.

2. The excursion includes the viewing of the exclusive exhibition of the Kangxi Emperor. This exhibition showcases treasures from The Palace Museum, Beijing and offers visitors a rare glimpse into the Forbidden City - right here in Singapore. Students are highly recommended to participate in this excursion to broaden the perspectives that hey have gained from their Sec 1 History Syllabus.

3. Participants will be released from their post-examination activities at 1145 and have a half hour lunch break. They are to report to the school foyer by 1215 sharp as the coach to ACM will leave at 1220.

4. The excursion will take about 2 hours and participants are expected to reach back school by about 1445.

there was a lunchtime concert, and I saw somebody brought a violin. The performances weren't really exciting... so I wasn't excited.... so I was walking around canteen waiting for the slackers to finish playing soccer.

Oh ya, and I was disturbing Si Rong. Just saw him in the canteen, then I kept walking past him, staring at him, then tapping him on his back.

Just don't know why lah, but I find it interesting to disturb and bully him. He's so cute and funny! Won't retaliate one, just say "What the f***?!" Like he did on Wednesday's PE, when he saw me in the hall lawl.

Oh, then I saw Jason outside the field. And then I was like pacing up and down outside the field, waiting for the slackers when Jason saw me from afar and asked "what you doing here?" So I was like, "dunno...." then he said "eh bernard, bernard come here" Actually I wanted to say no and "No, you come here!" but then I thought we should respect the elderly. Ya then he asked me "You like Si rong isit?" I said no. But then, I felt there could have been many answers.

You know who is Trina Tan Ker Wei?

Ya, the lady who wrote the letter about the macDonalds issue.

I was feeling bored, so I decided to write about her ~~evil sins~~ good deeds.

I WAS at the McDonald's outlet in Marine Cove on April 14, from about 4.30pm to 5.30pm.

During that time, a group of between 10 and 20 secondary school boys in Victoria School (VS) uniform entered together with a lady who I assumed was their teacher, and occupied a long table and some bar seats.

From their loud cheers, I gathered the teacher was giving them a treat. The calls to confirm orders and the general rowdy chatter were a little disruptive but I was okay with it.

What got to me, though, was how the VS boys did not clear their trays when they got up to leave. Some placed their empty drink cups and wrappers on the trays, but no one bothered to empty the filled trays.

The trash bin was next to the tables they were occupying at most three steps away. The appalling thing was seeing how the teacher did not bother to ask the boys to clear their trays she just stood there talking to the boys.

Then they all left. The area they had occupied looked as if a tornado had swept through it. There were used napkins, burger wrappers and empty drink cups left here and there.

I sympathised with the McDonalds crew member who came to clear the mess with a look of helpless despair on his face.

I am saddened by the behaviour of the VS boys and the inability of their teacher to use that moment to teach her students manners. Victoria School appears to have failed in upholding its school mission of producing well-mannered, considerate men with good social graces.

My mother, a proud former VS girl, was surprised at the incident and felt the boys were tarnishing the schools name.

If the younger generation cannot master basic manners, I do not care if they are winning academic awards around the world as far as I am concerned, they are failures.

And Oh! She wrote an apology letter!

I refer to “Nothing wrong with Victorians” (April 22) from Mr Zaveed Husref.

I am sorry that Mr Husref felt I “insulted generations of Victorians”. In my original letter to the Today, I noted: “Based on what I witnessed, Victoria School appears to have failed in upholding its school mission of producing Victorians who are gentlemen - and that is most disappointing since almost all the former VS boys I have had the pleasure of knowing over the years have been well-mannered, considerate men with good social graces.”

It was most unfortunate that the latter part of the sentence was edited out – otherwise Mr Husref would understand that one of the main source of my disappointment arising from the incident arose from having outstanding Victorian alumni (both from Victoria School and Victoria Junior College) as my friends, and my own mother.

I do not believe I should be called narrow-minded. Instead, perhaps I was too naïve to expect the younger Victorians to have the same social graces as Victorian alumni.

It is surprising though that Mr Husref implied because “clearing trays are part of crew members’ jobscope”, we can leave our tables messy and not clear out trays after use.

That is tantamount to saying that because we pay taxes and conservancy fees, we can litter the streets and urinate in HDB lifts as the sweepers and cleaners employed with our money are paid to clean up anyway.

Just because crew members are paid to clean up after us does not mean that we should not clear our trays.Just because some Singaporeans do not clear their trays does not mean that the rest of us should follow suit.

It is about having social graces, about being decent to our fellow humans, about having basic manners. And that is something all Singaporeans, Victorians or otherwise, should have. We shouldn’t only be polite when it is convenient, it should be a part of our daily lives.

Lastly, I apologise for my “failures” comment to Victorians. As Mr Husref reminded me, Victorians “should be allowed the occasional lack of perfection” and I shouldn’t have used so harsh a phrase. But I urge the boys to strive to upkeep the reputation their seniors have built up – I, as a non-Victorian, have always been very impressed by Victorians, and I hope I can continue to be so.

because the last few days i have not been able to blog because i was having fever.

today, i had the biggest shock of my life.

i realised that nobody's life is always straight... there are many ups and downs... and of this i fear.

yesterday was sports day!
omg boring.
at first i stayed at my seat cos i tot if i walked around and get caught by car omg.
then after that i realised i can! but i walked away from car.

Joan Miro

Joan Miro(1893-1983), had a family of strong craft tradition - his father was a goldsmith and grandfather a blacksmith and carpenter. Teenager Miro studied at the School of Fine Art in Barcelona , merging art with business studies. Unfortunately, he contracted typhoid fever and had a nervous breakdown. When studying, Miro concentrated on art. Following his student days, he worked in a style which he described as fauvist because of the expressive use of color. It was influenced by Paul Cezanne and the cubist style at the fellow Spanish artists Juan Gris and Pablo Picasso.

He concentrated on portraits and academics nude compositions. However, young Miro enjoyed sketching in the countryside, and the open landscape offered great scope for his vivid imagination. His works from around 1918, such as House with Palm Tree - with its simplified arrangement of nature, enabling each element its own separate space - gave some tinge of idea regarding the particular direction was now heading towards.

His style continued evolving with crisply delineated forms, as shown in The Farm (1921-1922), a painting that he had worked on in Barcelona and in his wintertime home at Paris . The following year, he began a work taking him to the borders of representational landscape painting and complete abstraction. In the Tilled Earth (1923-1924) there is a mix of highly stylized representations of animals, ploughed fields, and invented shapes that do not resemble the natural world.

It was an increasingly imaginative realm for Miro, as his subject of his paintings crossed the border from natural into the psychological world. He signed the surrealist manifests in 1924; attempts to free mind from logic and reason that is associated with surrealism is reflected in his paintings from then on. Albeit Miro never considered himself as a member of the surrealist movement, he, nevertheless, was a surrealist at heart. In his paintings, prints, and sculpture, he drew upon the subterranean realm of his personality to create works that moved between abstraction and rudimentary - some would say primitivist-style. The sinuous objects and images in paintings such as Maternity (1924) seem less of the real, physical world and more the imaginary creatures in dreams, nightmares, or the fevered mind. Indeed, Miro said that the collection of insect like forms and fishlike fantasies that make up Harlequin’s Carnival (1924-1925) was the result of “hallucinations bought on by hunger.”

Miro was influenced by the ideas and poetry of surrealism. In the late 1920s, he began a cycle of “dream paintings”, which were loose and freely formed artworks. Some incorporated text into the compositions, as in This Is the Color of My Dreams (1925). Others, such as Head of Catalan Peasant IV (1925), were practically free of compositional structure, concentrating on color and spontaneous marks. Despite the surrealist nature of these paintings, the primitivism and playfulness of his work made him different from the other artist in the movement.

He worked on his most intense paintings during WWII : the Constellation series (1940-1943) His most expressive works are : Painting(personage and Moon)(1950), Wall of the Sun and Wall of the moon (ceramic murals for the UNESCO building in Paris ) (1958), Man and Woman (1962).

ok, today I woke up at 1.30p.m. what's wrong with that? Then, i played... all the way till now. Meanwhile, I cooked lunch for myself ( see post below )! tasted quite nice actually. At about 5p.m. I played gb with Darren and Wen wei. OK!!! and just now I was on MSN with jason. he told me that a blog wastes your time. I agree! from now on, I will 'ignore' this blog! I will only post interesting things that happened around me once a few days and not elaborate on it!! Wooo. ok bye

Today I woke up at around 8a.m. then I played a bit of gunbound with Daniel. Then at about 12p.m. I slept for a while until about 1.30p.m. then I ate instant noodles before going for tuition. I had tuition until about 3.40p.m. Then I went home and ate another packet of instant noodles before going to ANOTHER tuition at 4.30p.m. until 6p.m.

When I got home I ate KFC. Then I did my Elementary Mathematics. Then I do malay~ Then I watch some movies on TV... It is now 12.18.a.m. as I am writing this blog entry!!! :DD See you tomorrow. Good night! *the science centre chop is still on my hand

Then, for recess I had chicken rice. Then during Music lesson Mr Ikhwan let us do some project work... Then in Mother Tongue class we had another 'SURPRISE 聽写' OMG I couldn't learn because I didn't bring my file... I think I got a lot of wrongs.

Then for lunch I ate wan ton noodles before going to the School Hostel canteen. There, our seniors briefed us about the trip to Science Centre before going. But they didn't go with us! We were there at the Science Centre for a talk about GPS. I wished they'd give an iPhone as a freebie... Then after the talk ended we walked to Jurong MRT Station with our teacher. He alighted at Bedok MRT Station as he was living at the School Hostel. I alighted at Tampines MRT Station with some of my CCA friends who were also living in Tampines. At the Tampines Bus Interchange, I ran into Jing Ying, my primary school classmate! I just said a few sentences to her then we parted. From there, I walked back home. While I was walking back home, I passed my primary school's old building which was going under construction. I wonder when it will be done... next year probably. Can't wait to go to Tampines Primary School and Tampines Secondary School to visit! At home for dinner I ate a burger and chicken rice. After that on the computer I played a little bit of a gunbound with Darren.

Today during the first lesson : Science. Mdm Farrah talked to us about solutions. Then during Mother Tongue lesson, I thought we had 'Surprise 聽写' so I studied a bit... but turns out that many people didn't know which chapter to study so it was postponed to tomorrow! Then during recess I ate chicken rice. After that during Elementary Mathematics lesson we had a test... I think I got the last question wrong. Then during History we watched a movie about 'Sophie Scholl' which had just been on OKTO like about a week ago! There were about 12 parts to the movie, each about 10 minutes I guess. The movie ended at the end of part 3, where Sophie Scholl was asked to strip by an officer. At that point, almost half of the class shouted "NO!!!" HAHA! Sickos!

For lunch, I had Laksa and Ice jelly. Then, I went up to the CO room. I took an erhu and I went up to the 7th floor. There, we practiced playing the erhu. After the lesson ended, I brought the erhu home! I took bus service 31 with wenyang. He alighted at Tanah Merah Interchange. At home, I turned on the computer but no one was online... I had rice for dinner.

It is now 9.37p.m. as I am writing this blog entry, and I still haven't posted the moon pictures!! Sian no time to do it. Ok good night

Today during English lesson we had a test about writing an informal letter. We crossed-mark our own works. Wenwei marked mine! He gave me 24/30. I marked Aniq's and I gave him 23/30. After that, we had PE lesson! Mr.Amir asked us to do high jumps. We also played a bit of soccer. During recess, I ate nasi hijau from 'Mee Bagus'.

During MT-Reading period, we had another SURPRISE 聽写! OK and for that one yesterday I got 11/11. Then after that during Chemistry Laboratory lesson, well Mdm Farrah came. We did some experiments... Then during Elementary Mathematics lesson we did Elementary Mathematics.

After school I ate Chicken rice and a bowl of Ice Jelly which I shared with Wenwei. After eating my lunch, I went to the soccer field to watch my friends play a bit of soccer before leaving for MSP at TPSS. I sat with Hongwei... so cute. LOLS haha. After MSP which commenced at about 6.40p.m. I went to Bedok Bus Interchange to take bus service 31 back home. When I reached home, it was almost 7.15p.m.! Oh ya and before that I saw the Minister around. Mr Mah Bow Tan. At the Tampines town council. At night, I had chicken rice for dinner. I ate finish before 8p.m., which was the time that my tuition was about to start. I went for tuition about Science. It ended at 9.30p.m.

It is now about 10.39p.m. as I am writing this blog entry, and I still have yet to finish my history homework and post the moon pictures up!!! Nevermind I will do that when I am free.

Today first thing in the morning we had a Science Test on Chemistry... Mdm Farrah was not here again... Most of the questions I knew how to do... then I handed it in. Then during Home Economics lesson we baked muffins! I think I and Aniq did quite okay... :\ OK wth, then during recess I really got pissed off! There were these bunch of cedar girls from cedar girls in GEYLANG bahru who came to our school for selling some stupid tickets to their funfair on VALENTINE'S DAY! Then Shaun Goh bought one ticket. I merely cheered. Then this stranger appeared out of nowhere and talked to me. After he left I wanted to point _|_ to him but on account that he is old and about to die soon, I let him off.

After school we went for Swimming! I didn't bring my towel... == During swimming lesson we did the breaststroke. We had to swim 10 continuous laps! Oh my god. But I still accomplished it. After the lesson had commenced I walked to the Kallang MRT station with Wen Yang. I think we walked about 1kilometres... then when I reached Tampines MRT station, I bought McDonalds for dinner. When I reached home, I was too tired so I fell asleep immediately. I woke up at about 7.15p.m. then from there onwards I have been using the computer.

It is now about 10.03p.m. as I am writing this and I will be turning in soon. I think I will post the moon pictures either later or tomorrow or Thursday. Good night and see you later!

Today there was no CDE-TTT lesson. So, our seniors came in for a lesson with us. They talked about the 8 core values of a Victorian and played some games with us too. Wah, and some of my classmates got a treat from them! After CDE-TTT lesson, we had History lesson. Our History teacher shared with us some notes about History :

What is 'Government'?
It has two meanings :

Group of people responsible for ruling a country.
System of ruling.

*Many different systems of ruling.
*Monarchy is the system of government headed by a king or a queen(Monarch)

Different kinds of government

Theocracy - Religious leader
Oligarchy - Ruled by few people

Autocracy - Strict rules, sometimes cruel

OK... then for recess I had dried maggi noodles with vegetarian char siew and I accidentally added in an egg! I think I'm supposed to eat vegetarian today as it is ‘正月十五’. But then, I see many people eating meat so I think... it's okay?

After recess was Art... but no Art! I guess Mr.Khor had a tournament going on or something. Taking use of this 2 free periods, Faris ( our class monitor ) decided to hold a class meeting about the class outing on 30th May 2009. After the meeting had commenced, we had English lesson. OK, English lesson really upset my mood cause I was the one who got 2 :( Don't know why my English Language is now so bad... It's maybe because I can't cope with all the hard new subjects. After that we went for CCP.

After school, I went to Darren's house with Wen Wei ( again ) to do History homework. I had McDonalds for lunch! The previous one that we did was rejected by Mr.Tay! I stayed there until about 6p.m.... then I took bus service 31 from outside Bedok Interchange back home.

It is now about 8.54p.m. as I am typing in this blog entry... I want to sleep soon. But only after 10.49p.m.! The newspaper yesterday said that the moon tonight will be BIG and ROUND! Hope I can take a picture of it and put it on here tomorrow! OK... that's all for today. See you tomorrow and good night!

Today, again I woke up at about 11.30p.m. or about 12p.m. About half an hour after I woke up, my brother's friend's family came. At 2.p.m., my brother's friend's brother left first as he had tuition. Then my brother's friend and his mother left at about 3p.m. I had KFC for lunch. At about 4p.m., I went to the Nike warehouse sale held at the Expo terminal 6. Well, I didn't buy anything... BUT!!! I ran into my CO EH senior! Well I just saw him not sure whether he saw me too but I didn't wave to him :(

After we had shopped finish we went to this '金塔寺' at Tampines.

We took bus service 72 from Tampines interchange. When I got on the bus, I put in 55cents then the stupid bus uncle asked : "卡咧？'(wheres his card?) Lucky me and my mother ignored him and just went upstairs. Stupid Chinaman trying to cheat me of my money! Everybody please remind me NEVER TO TAKE TRANSITLINK'S BUS EVER AGAIN! Nevermind.

when I reached the temple my mother ran into her friend. Then, we had dinner at the temple together. Then we went up for some praying. After that, I was surprised to see that there was a lion dance troupe performing soon! So I stayed behind to watch a bit of them performing. After watching my fill, I went with my mother to take bus service 34 back home.

When I reached home, I was shocked to find out that my phone had spoiled! The screen had gone totally blank! Oh my god... there goes all my contacts. Tomorrow I will have to get most of them back from Daniel again. It is now 11.45p.m. as I am writing this diary entry and I have yet to complete my history homework! I am still stuck at source E! Well... I also haven't write down the CCP essay. I think I'll do that tomorrow just before school starts. Hope I can finish it by then! Good night everyone!
